If one follows the headlines closely, the talk is all about the debt crisis in the Eurozone. Meanwhile, climate talks in Durban are largely overlooked. I doubt if most people even know anything is going on down there. Despite the economic fix that Europe is finding itself in, the Union is still the world’s best hope in pushing the climate agenda forward. Europe demands commitment from other nations, especially the largest polluters who are unwilling to take the lead or even assist in this process. It is a good thing what Europe is doing, and as Connie Hedegaard–EU Commissioner for Climate Action– said, “the world has had plenty of time to think about the impacts of climate change. It is time for action.”
